BODYSUITS, ROMPERS & ONESIES
Call them what you want, they all have one thing in common. They are one-piece newborn outfits. These are going to be your primary clothing choice for your newborn baby. You should also consider only buying 100% cotton bodysuits. Cotton is a breathable fabric that is less likely to cause skin irritations and rashes.
In most cases you get what you pay for with baby clothes. By all means stock up on cheap bodysuits from the major retailers, they are great home outfits or feeding outfits. However they are likely to distort after a few washes. We are not saying you need to buy the most expensive baby clothes you can find, sadly these do not always last either however they are more likely to be a better fabric and make than their cheaper counter parts.
It's also crucial that you think about nappy changes. Quick, easy with limited mess nappy changes is what you want. Access directly to the nappy via snap press studs or zippers is the most convenient. This means that you don't have to undress your baby from the shoulders for nappy changes.
You should have a mix of summer, long sleeves and extra warm clothes in your newborn's wardrobe. When babies are born, they come out of a warm and cosy 36-38 degrees. For the first few day's it's important to keep them warm and rugged up. You need to be prepared for day and night temperatures to vary so have a range of clothes on hand. As babies grow, you can start to have more defined summer and winter wardrobes.
