Mera Peak climbing is a popular trekking destination in Nepal. Mera Peak is the highest trekking peak in the Khumbu region in Nepal. Mera Peak at an altitude of 6,641m is a challenge for all the trekkers who are physically fit and up for the challenge. Mera Peak offers unparalleled views and stunning panoramas which makes it the most sought after mountaineering destinations in Nepal. Climbing Mera Peak is not difficult technically but the altitude makes it more exciting and challenging.

Mera Peak is situated in the edge of famous Khumbu Region and it is dominated by Mount Everest. To reach the Mera Peak, one has to go through the Makalu Barun National Park. So you can enjoy the natural beauties of the park, natural vegetation and exquisite animals and birds.

The journey to the Mera Peak begins with a short exciting flight to a small airstrip in Lukla. The flight itself is exciting as Lukla is one of the adventurous airstrips in the world. After you land in Lukla, you have trek continuously for days through some lovely small villages and terrains until you reach the area of Mera. This trek is physically demanding in the accounts of altitude but it is not very difficult as ascending snow slopes rarely exceed 40 degrees. So one has to been physically fit and should be able to enjoy the challenges. Your itinerary should give you some time to help you acclimatize with the altitudes.

During the journey you will also have beautiful and amazing view of the high hills and white mountains like Lhotse, Choyu, Ama Dablam, Kanchenjunga and Makalu. You will also go through some beautiful and amazing settlements of Gurung, Magars and Limbus. You can also be a part of the local culture and lifestyle. You will enjoy the hospitality of the locals and their rituals. They are mostly influenced by the Buddhist culture. The walk starts from the mystic Hinku valley. This valley is incredibly beautiful and provides excellent acclimatization for the peak itself. This valley also offers you some beautiful and splendid views on the mountains and hills.

Lifting the eyes from Mera and keep on lifting them until, above the clouds, the mighty frieze of the world's 8000 meter Mountains- Everest, Kanchenjunga, Makalu, Lhotse, Cho-Oyu and many other peaks is an unforgettable experience.

NOTE: It has been a matter of curiosity of many climbers that on which- North Mera Peak (6,476m/21,240 ft, Central Mera Peak (6,461m/ 21,190 ft), or South Mera Peak (6064m/ 19890 ft) is the best way to do this expedition. In general, operate expedition to Mera Central (6,461m/ 21,190 ft) although the highest one is Mera North (6,476m/21,240 ft). Due to huge crevasses and glacial changes happening there in the route to Mera North people usually do the expedition to Mera Central.
