LG G7: Powered with Sony Camera

Since past year, the dual-camera is a trend in a smartphone, so does the LG in the LG G6. At the core of both LG G6 cameras are quite old photomodules Sony IMX258, which can often be found in smartphones for 300 euros: Lenovo P2 and Meizu M3E, for example. But do not worry: it removes the "Korean" by an order of magnitude better than any of these models - that's what it means to work with the camera software and processing algorithms. And, G6 camera works really great, so the expectations for LG G7 are even more.

 

As mentioned, the camera of the G6 is dual, but there is no optical zoom, no artificial background blurs like the iPhone 7 Plus and Huawei P10. The bet is made on wide-angle photos: they are just making the second 13-megapixel modules with a lens with a viewing angle of 125 degrees. It is rumored that LG G7 camera will even have wider-angle lens to capture more area.

 

Koreans claim that every second user of last year's G5 just went crazy about this feature. Well, in my opinion, the function is greatly overrated. Yes, in the form of previews in social networks such pictures look interesting, because they stand out from the gray mass. But if you adequately assess their quality ... Such a concept as "sharpness" on these frames simply does not exist - there is no possibility to choose the focus point, it is just tuned to infinity. Just a small improvement in phone can make it crazier for people, and if LG G7 will be able to make it, then things will be in favor of LG.

 

In the LG G6, the front 5-megapixel cameras by the standards of 2017 is weak. In the afternoon, it is inferior in detail and the quality of color transfer to any other current flagship, and in case of lack of light it is better not to even include it - just be in vain. Here, too, there is a normal mode and a wide-angle mode. It is better to shoot even single self-portraits in the second - the quality is better in it. So, we expect at least LG should equip the LG G7 with the 12MP front camera.

 

Last year's processor, which will not become obsolete for long, in the G6 the developers chose the Snapdragon 821 chipset and did not wait for the 835th model to release their flagship earlier than competitors from Samsung. RAM here is standard for top-end smartphones 4 GB. Whereas the LG G7 has rumored with 8GB RAM, and how much truth is in there is still can’t be committed.

 

As a result, in performance tests G6 loses in front Galaxy S8 and Sony Xperia XZs, but in reality you hardly notice this difference at least in the next year. Without glitches and delays everything works: from demanding games to the heavy brand interface LG, which, by the way, this time was very well optimized. And with the heating of the case under load, there is no problem - it just becomes a little warm. But LG is ready to pick in the race by launching the LG G7.
