The difference in the altitude of eastern and western areas of the park can be well-displayed in four distinct types of vegetations including tropical semi-evergreen forests, alluvial savanna woodlands, alluvial inundated grasslands, and tropical moist mixed deciduous forests. A variety of aquatic flora can also be seen in the lakes, ponds, and along the river shores.

Kaziranga National Park is a home of the world’s largest population of Indian Rhinoceros. Apart from rhinos, you can also spot hoolock gibbon, tiger, leopard, Indian elephant, sloth bear, swamp deer, wild water buffalo, etc in their natural habitat. In 2006 the Forest Government authorities declared Kaziranga as a Tiger Reserve because of its increasing tiger population.
