- Do not embarrass me
This is a sentence that should never be used in your language. That is your child, you should never be embarrassed by him/ her. By saying this, you can hurt your child emotionally and they will desperately seek for an approval every time they do something. This can negatively affect when they grow up and try to make friends.
- I will buy you an ice – cream
Do not promise anything to make them to something. This will give them an idea that they need to be awarded every time they do something good. They will even think that washing their teeth deserves an award. This can have a negative impact on the relationship with your child. And later in life, when your child grows up, they will be taking advantage of other people because they once thought that it was normal. Try some other alternative to inspire your child to perform their duties.
- I was a better kid when I was your age
Parents are the most important figure in the life of every children. They look up to them and they will try to imitate everything they do. Everything you say or do means a lot to them. So, if you keep comparing yourself with your child, you can create a competitive environment and your child will think that competing with everything and everyone is normal.
- Your friends have better test results
Not all kids are the same. They are all different, unique, wonderful. Each of them has their own capabilities. So, comparing your child with other kids will lower their self – confidence and make them feel bad about themselves. They will feel intimidated to make contacts with other kids that are “better” than him/ her. You do not want your child to be constantly disappointed and unhappy, right?
- You won’t be allowed to play if you don’t eat your vegetables
Wrong, wrong, wrong. Don’t ever do that and then wonder why your child hates vegetables? Instead of making your kid hate vegetables explain them how good this food is for their health and development emphasizing the importance of fresh, unprocessed food.
