Ranthambore National Park is the most popular wildlife reserve in India which is famous for its rich Tiger population. It is a fact that some Jungle safari zones of the national park are best for spotting big cats in their natural habitat which includes zone no. 3,4,2,5, and 6. From last few decades, travelers have spot tiger in these zones, but it is quite not fair to say that you can only spot tigers in these zones of Ranthambore, however, all these zones contain a tiger territory in the reserve. Zone no. 3 and 4 are covered with beautiful landscape and lakes, whereas the other ones have also water bodies which are the best place to see exotic wild animals in Ranthambore. Zone no. 3 is quite popular among tourists because it covers almost three lakes (Padam Talao Lake, Rajbagh Lake, and Malik Lake) which make it a suitable zone for spotting tiger.  The zone is quite nearer to Ranthambore Fort and is surrounded by scenic views and mesmerizing beauty.

Rules and regulations laid by the Forest Department


For Ranthambore Safari, the Forest Department has designed some terms and a condition under which safari vehicles that go inside the national park in every shift will include four jeeps and four canters in every zone. Allowance of taking canter in zone number 7, 8, and 10 is restricted due to the steep climb and hilly track. Nowadays the Forest Department offers online jungle safari booking facility which decreases the work of middle-man. It also facilitates in choosing the preferred safari zone before 90 days from the date of visit in advance reservation.

All the safari zones are best for spotting big cats in their natural habitat and exploring the wildlife of Ranthambore, as all are blessed with exotic animal and bird species. If you are planning a Ranthambore Trip, then you can try to choose any one zone of 1 to 5 for your jungle safari. You can opt for Jeep for a group of 6 people or canter for a group of 20 people. 1 to 5 safari zones is the most recommended zones by tourists as compared to zone no. 6 to 10.

Spotting a tiger in Ranthambore

Every zone of Ranthambore has a chance of spotting tigers, but the most popular ones are zone 1 to 5. However it is not confirmed that you would be able to spot tiger here, but chances are very high in these zones only. If you do not spot a tiger in 3-4 safaris, then you can have better luck next time. It is advised to completely focus on tigers because; you may lose a chance of spotting tigers in the wildlife reserve.
